Former England under-18 men, Manchester Giants and Milton Keynes Lions coach Andre Alleyne has been jailed for 30 months for sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl.
Alleyne guided England to fourth spot in last year’s European Championships, but was replaced by Tim Lascelles after the tournament.
The former Channel Five presenter pleaded guilty to three counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child at an earlier hearing, and was sent down at Croydon Crown Court on Wednesday.
He encouraged the girl to show him her private parts and performed sex acts on her both at school and at her home.
The 41-year-old, who was working at Archbishop Lanfranc School at the time, had previously admitted inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and three counts of sexual activity with a child.
He pleaded not guilty to a further count of sexual activity with a child, which will remain on file.
Judge Stephen Waller banned Alleyne from working in any job which would give him unsupervised access to girls under the age of 15 during sentencing at Croydon Crown Court.
He said: “These are serious offences of their type.
“They involve obviously a grave breach of trust, primarily towards the pupil but also towards the school as a whole.
“She was so much younger and therefore vulnerable to you, and also doubly vulnerable because of your position of authority.
“I have no doubt that the court case will have a life-long effect on her.”

Worthing Thunder co-captain James Brame celebrated his 200th game for the south coast on Saturday night against the Worcester Wolves as his side secured an 86-84 victory over their play-off rivals.

Brame is now in his ninth season for the team and has been the captain for the past five seasons, overseeing the most successful period in the club’s history, including the two English Basketball League titles in 2005/6 and 2006/7. He is the first player in Thunder’s 11-year history to play a double century of games.
Before the game on Saturday, James was presented with a trophy marking his achievement from Worcester Wolves assistant soach Chris Mayes, who fulfilled a similar role for the Thunder during the title-winning seasons.
Thunder director/assistant coach Alan Sweetman-Hicks commented: “In the current climate where players are always chasing a bigger wage and even leave clubs before they have even played for them, it is great that there are still players like James around who remain loyal to their home town over a long period of time. Nine seasons for one team is an impressive achievement, particularly when you consider the only other club he has played for is the (Worthing/Brighton) Bears, for whom he made his debut at 16 and played four seasons. He has played pretty much every position on the court during that time and is a great role model for our supporters both with his tireless effort on the court and the work he has done in the local community over the years. I’m sure there are many more years left in him!”
In 200 league games for the Thunder, Brame has scored 815 points and taken 385 rebounds. He has also made over 75% of his free throws in that time. With Cup, Trophy and Play-off games not included in that total, Brame has probably played another 70-80 games for the Thunder.
